ghd platinum+ styler

The ghd platinum+ styler is the premium option as the world's 1st SMART styler that predicts your hair's needs for ultimate results - pretty amazing, right? This ultra-zone predictive technology constantly adapts to your hair to ensure the optimum styling temperature at all times for 70% stronger* hair, 2x more colour protection and 20% more shine**. The design differs to the other straighteners with not only its ultra gloss plate coating, but its wishbone hinge makes styling feel easier and lighter. Even better, ghd generously offers an extra year on your warranty making it a total of three years for extra peace of mind.

Verdict: If you find yourself styling your hair daily, if your hair tends to be dry, damaged or coloured and you want to give it some extra TLC, this is the your best bet as its less damaging than other hair straighteners on the market.

NEW ghd max wide plate styler

The max styler has been around for a long time, but now ghd have launched the newly improved model that has 70% larger plates^ for long, thick, curly hair. Its 1.65 inch plates are engineered to give 80% more shine† and up to 2x less frizz†† for a long-lasting salon-quality finish. Its dual-zone technology controls the optimum temperature consistently across both floating plates for smooth results from root to tip and eliminates frizz which is music to anyone’s ears who struggles with coarse or rebellious hair.

Verdict: This is THE tool for unruly, thick, frizzy hair. The wider plate will make it quicker and easier to transform your hair without it taking hours on end and overheating – ghd claims you can style it in HALF the time~, enough said, we’re sold.

ghd gold styler

Looking at the gold, it shares the same technology as the max wide plate with its dual-zone advantage. Its two plate sensors allow for even more controlled styling and like the other models, its floating plates allow you to move through your effortlessly whether your straightening or creating waves. A versatile tool with only a 25 second heat-up time, you can get the job done not only swiftly but looking fabulously!

Verdict: A good choice for those who don’t want to spend as much as the platinum+, but still want to tame their mane for a professional finish.

ghd original IV styler

Back where it all started in 2001, the original styler was ghd’s first straightener which started the phenomenon. Its ceramic heat technology maintains ghd’s famous optimum temperature of 185ºC plus its rounded barrel and floating plates will effortlessly glide through hair without snagging. It’s a brilliant all-rounder that proves it’s a classic best seller even 20 years on.

Verdict: This should be your go-to if you have manageable hair that you style occasionally or if you want something that “just does the job” but does a good job at that! The styling speed is a bit slower compared to the previous models above but not a deal-breaker.

ghd mini styler

If you have short hair or a fringe, using a standard size straightener can be hard to manoeuvre which is why ghd recommends trying their mini. It features half inch plates and uses the same technology as the original IV styler so you can be guaranteed a smooth and snag-free finish that will leave your hair feeling and looking healthy and shiny. You’ll be amazed at how it can get into those hard-to-reach roots or tackle those disobedient kinks.

Verdict: If your hair sits above your shoulders, this is the straightener that you’ll get most use from. It will make it easier to manipulate your hair to sit where you want it to, which we know isn’t always easy!
